SUMMARY:

Responsible for assembling parts and attaching components and hardware in a prescribed manner using power or hand tools, testing devices, gauges and other equipment to form complete units or sub-assemblies at a bench, conveyor line, or on the floor, placing finished products into point of sale packaging in accordance with production deadlines and sales goals under the close supervision of the Assembly Department Lead.  The work involves a wide variety of operations, with work cycles that are repetitive.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

ASSEMBLY

  • Assembles assigned product parts on assembly line in accordance with production guidelines
  • Follows detailed assembly instructions, processes and procedures
  • Operates the laser machine when needed under close supervision
  • Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations and quality control standards
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate effective and efficient manufacturing functions
  • Reads work orders and identifies priorities in order to meet the production schedule
  • Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines and company policies

PACKAGING

  • Verifies contents being packed, and selects appropriate type and size of container for items per pre-determined instruction
  • Uses appropriate packing materials to avoid breakage or damage and applies shipping labels or identifying data on outside of package
  • Keeps accurate counts of products being packaged
  • Ensures that correct contents are packaged appropriately and identified correctly on the outside of the package
  • Adheres to manufacturing priorities as instructed by supervisor and in accordance with production schedule
  • Performs inspections of products to ensure adherence to approved quality standards
  • Reports problems with quality, processes, defects, equipment and materials

PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • No previous experience required – training provided
  • Must be able to read work orders
  • Ability to function effectively with repetitive and routine work
  • Ability to speak and understand English
  • Basic computer skills are required to print labels
  • Good written and oral communication skills preferred

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Correctable vision and hearing
  • Ability to move through approximately 20,000 square foot building
  • Light physical effort required to frequently and repetitively lift or move lightweight parts and materials
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hands’ and arms’ length, stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in fast paced environment
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • Ability to exercise reasonable judgment
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions
